Cultural, educational, and scientific relations between Uzbekistan and Algeria are entering a new stage of development. At present, the XII International Sufi Melodies Cultural Festival is being held in collaboration between the Ministry of Culture and Arts of Ministry of Culture and Arts of Algeria and the Governorate of Laghouat Province, alongside a series of high-level international scientific events within its framework.
More than 200 experts, scholars, and cultural figures from over twenty countries are participating in this prestigious international forum. As part of the conference, a delegation from Uzbekistan has also visited Algeria with the aim of widely promoting the country’s rich scientific and spiritual heritage. The inclusion of Shovosil Ziyodov, Director of the Imam Bukhari International Scientific Research Center, along with researchers Shukrullo Umarov and Sadulla Bobokhodjaev, further strengthens the Center’s role in international academic diplomacy.
It is worth noting that this visit is not the first trip of the Center’s representatives to Algerian territory. At the invitation of Dr. Ahmad bin Saghir, Director of the Center for Islamic Sciences and Civilization Studies, the scholars of the Center visited Algeria in March 2024, where they participated in an international seminar held within the framework of the Sufi Doctrine and Culture Festival in Laghouat and conducted initial negotiations on establishing mutual cooperation.
Now, after a relatively short period of time, another scientific visit has been organized. During this visit, the implementation of previously reached agreements between the two centers was reviewed, and further prospects for strengthening cooperation were discussed. As the most significant outcome of the negotiations, plans were outlined to establish staff exchange programs between the two scientific institutions in the future and to implement new joint initiatives aimed at enhancing the professional development of young researchers.
The productive scientific visit of the delegation of the Imam Bukhari International Scientific Research Center to Algeria, along with its bilateral meetings, is ongoing. Detailed information regarding the outcomes of the visit and the scholars’ presentations will be provided in subsequent reports.
