Leyla Almazova, a research fellow at the Leibniz Centre for Contemporary Oriental Studies (Germany), paid a visit to the Imam Bukhari International Scientific Research Center. The guest was thoroughly introduced to the Center’s museum and exhibitions and was provided with detailed information on the efforts being undertaken in Uzbekistan to study and promote Islamic civilization and the country’s scholarly and spiritual heritage.
During the visit, the parties discussed ways to further develop scholarly cooperation, conduct joint research, promote academic exchange, and implement collaborative research projects. In this regard, it was noted with particular satisfaction that the foundation for academic cooperation between Uzbek and German scholars of Islamic studies had been laid in April 2019. At that time, during the visit of the Uzbekistan delegation to the Leibniz Centre, German colleagues were provided with comprehensive information on the wide-ranging spiritual and educational reforms being implemented in the country, particularly those aimed at ensuring religious tolerance and freedom of conscience in society, as well as the legal and practical conditions created to enable representatives of various religious denominations to freely practice their faith.
During the dialogue, it was emphasized that ethnic and religious diversity in Uzbekistan constitutes an important asset of society, enhancing the people’s creative potential and strengthening social cohesion. It was also noted that the peaceful coexistence of representatives of various ethnic groups and religious denominations is ensured in the country, and that this experience is receiving recognition and generating interest at the international level.
At the conclusion of the visit, the parties expressed their mutual interest in continuing scholarly dialogue, elevating the current cooperation to a new level, and further strengthening academic and educational ties.
