The delegation of representatives from the centers of Islamic civilization in Uzbekistan, including the centers of Imam Bukhari, Imam Matrudi, and Imam Termizi, continues its official visit to the Republic of Turkey.
On the next day of the visit, members of the delegation visited the Book Restoration and Archives Department of the Turkish National Library. They met with the head of the department, Jocin Yilmaz, and the director of the library, Nil Baydar, and familiarized themselves with the activities of the library. The Uzbekistani scholars observed the process of preserving, digitizing, and cataloging manuscripts. During the discussions, collaboration with the scientific centers in Uzbekistan was also discussed for further development.
In the second half of the day, the delegation visited the Rami Library, the largest library in Istanbul, with a capacity to serve 4,200 people at a time. The library has various specialized sections and carries out activities such as the restoration of rare manuscripts in the “Shifaxane” (restoration) department. Through laboratory research, the level of damage to books is determined, and specialists carry out restoration work. The Uzbekistani delegation also learned about the restoration, conservation, and repair processes of rare manuscripts in the library.
The delegation members were particularly interested in the expertise gained by the employees of the Imam Bukhari International Scientific Research Center in this field. The progress made by the center’s staff in the restoration of many books, especially the manuscript of “Sahih al-Bukhari”, left a deep impression on the visitors.
