International Experience Opens New Opportunities for Research

Researchers from the Imam Bukhari International Scientific Research Center, Tohir Evadullayev and Hafizullo Boyqobilov, are currently visiting Istanbul, Türkiye, where they are exploring the activities of international academic institutions and exchanging experiences in scientific research.

The research visit was organized at the invitation of the Research Centre for Islamic History, Art and Culture (IRCICA) of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). Particular emphasis is being placed on strengthening academic ties, exchanging expertise, and developing promising joint research projects.

The first meeting was therefore held with Ashirbek Muminov, Advisor to the Director General of IRCICA. During the discussion, the research activities of the Center’s scholars were reviewed, and valuable recommendations and guidance were provided on further advancing their academic work.

The participants also exchanged views on opportunities for conducting research at foreign academic institutions for specified periods, including the development and implementation of well-defined research projects. Particular attention was given to establishing three-, six-, and nine-month research programs that would enable researchers to gain valuable experience in an international academic environment.

The Center’s researchers also familiarized themselves with the activities of the Centre for Islamic Studies (İSAM), affiliated with Türkiye’s religious affairs institutions. During a meeting with its Director, Professor Murtaza Bedir, discussions focused on organizing joint research projects, collaboratively studying and critically editing manuscripts, and further developing cooperation between the two institutions.

Special attention was also paid to supporting the academic pursuits of researchers from the Imam Bukhari International Scientific Research Center and expanding their access to İSAM’s library and electronic research databases. In particular, it was emphasized that researchers who submit their academic project proposals may be given the opportunity to work and conduct research at the library for a specified period.

During the visit, the delegation also met with Orkhan Khoja, Head of İSAM’s Critical Editing Department, and Dr. Ozod Sersenboyev, an Uzbek scholar and Doctor of Law currently working at the institution. With Dr. Sersenboyev’s assistance, the Center’s researchers explored the library’s scholarly resources, electronic databases, and research facilities available to visiting scholars.

Furthermore, the participants discussed opportunities for researchers from the Imam Bukhari International Scientific Research Center to attend manuscript critical editing courses scheduled to be organized by İSAM in July 2027. These training programs are expected to contribute to the professional development of researchers and enhance their practical skills and expertise in working with manuscript sources.
