RESEARCHER FROM IMAM BUKHARI CENTER PARTICIPATES IN PRESTIGIOUS INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE IN KAZAKHSTAN

An international scientific and practical conference entitled “Historical, Cultural, Political and Economic Relations between Kazakhstan and the Eastern World: History, Present and Prospects for Development” was held in Almaty, Kazakhstan, to mark the 35th anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the R. B. Suleimenov Institute of Oriental Studies under the Academy of Sciences.

Bakhtiyor Tursunov, a researcher at the Imam Bukhari International Scientific Research Center, participated in the conference and delivered a presentation entitled “A New Stage of Cooperation between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.”

In his presentation, the researcher emphasized that relations of friendship, solidarity, and mutual understanding between the two countries have reached a new level over the past decade. He noted that joint efforts have contributed to the emergence of an entirely new political environment in Central Asia, with the region increasingly being recognized as an emerging hub of international diplomacy, political engagement, and economic development.

It was highlighted that Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan have been steadily expanding their cooperation not only in trade and economic relations but also in cultural and humanitarian fields. The two countries regularly organize cultural and educational events, including cultural festivals, film days, and sporting competitions. Cooperation between higher education institutions and research organizations has also been developing rapidly.

Reforms undertaken in Uzbekistan in the religious and educational spheres have played an important role in strengthening academic and cultural cooperation. The establishment and development of the Imam Bukhari International Scientific Research Center, the Center of Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan, and the Imam Tirmidhi, Imam Maturidi, and Bahauddin Naqshband research centers have helped position Uzbekistan as an important platform for international academic dialogue.

Mr. Tursunov devoted particular attention to the activities of the Imam Bukhari International Scientific Research Center. The institution has been making significant efforts to study and preserve the rich spiritual and intellectual heritage of the Uzbek people while promoting the humanitarian values of Islam, including tolerance, compassion, and peaceful coexistence, among the international community.

To date, the Center has translated into Uzbek more than 50 rare manuscript works authored by prominent scholars such as Imam al-Bukhari, Imam al-Maturidi, Imam al-Darimi, Abdulhamid al-Kashi, and Abu al-Mu’in al-Nasafi. More than 100 books and scholarly publications have been produced on the basis of these works.

In cooperation with counterpart institutions abroad and international academic organizations, the Center has organized over 300 international events, including conferences, seminars, symposia, exhibitions, and book presentations.

In particular, the Center has signed memoranda of cooperation and established institutional partnerships with several organizations in Kazakhstan, including the Institute for Geopolitical Studies, Khoja Akhmet Yassawi International Kazakh-Turkish University, the Abu Hanifa Research Center at the Egyptian University of Islamic Culture “Nur-Mubarak,” the R. B. Suleimenov Institute of Oriental Studies and the Institute of Philosophy, Political Science and Religious Studies under the Academy of Sciences, the Hazret Sultan National Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve, and the AQNIET Information, Outreach and Rehabilitation Center.

Furthermore, researchers from Kazakhstan are undertaking research fellowships at the Center as recipients of the Imam Bukhari International Scholarship.

The presentation reaffirmed that Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan remain firmly committed to strengthening their centuries-old friendship, good-neighborly relations, mutual trust, and comprehensive partnership.

The joint initiatives and academic exchanges undertaken by the two countries will undoubtedly provide fresh impetus to the further development of mutually beneficial and constructive cooperation, opening up new opportunities for deeper scientific, cultural, and intellectual engagement.
