New Chapter in Cooperation on Manuscript Research

As part of their official working visit to Türkiye, Director of the Imam Bukhari International Scientific Research Center Shovosil Ziyodov and Deputy Director Otabek Mukhammadiyev held a meeting in Istanbul with Dr. Mahmoud Al-Masri, Director General of Dar al-Makhtutat (House of Manuscripts).

The head of Dar al-Makhtutat had previously visited the Imam Bukhari International Scientific Research Center, where he familiarized himself with the Center’s activities, library, manuscript collections, and ongoing efforts to digitize historical manuscripts. Building on these earlier exchanges, the latest meeting opened up new opportunities to further strengthen academic ties between the two institutions.

The discussions focused on prospects for expanding scholarly cooperation, with particular emphasis on the study of manuscript sources, highlighting their academic significance, conducting research and critical analysis of rare works, and bringing the rich spiritual and intellectual heritage preserved in these manuscripts to a wider audience.
As a significant outcome of the discussions and initiatives put forward during the meeting, the two institutions signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on mutual cooperation.

Both sides emphasized that the newly established framework for cooperation would play an important role in advancing the in-depth study of the scholarly legacy of the great hadith scholars, Islamic jurists, and thinkers who originated from Transoxiana (Mawarannahr). The agreement is also expected to facilitate joint research into their works using contemporary academic methodologies and promote the findings more widely within the international scholarly community.
