The 10th International Seminar on Nabawi Heritage 2026 (SWAN X 2026) officially commenced on October 6 at the Imam Bukhari International Scientific Research Center in Samarkand, Uzbekistan.

Bringing together distinguished scholars and researchers from Uzbekistan, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, Oman, Qatar, Indonesia, Thailand, and Nigeria, the conference is dedicated to the theme “Sustainable Development and Wise Leadership in an Era of Globalization: The Prophetic Legacy and Contemporary Approaches.”

The international gathering was organized in collaboration with Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) and Universiti Islam Antarabangsa Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin (UniSIRAJ), with the aim of developing Islamic scholarly approaches to contemporary global challenges, further strengthening international academic cooperation, and promoting the study and dissemination of the Prophetic legacy.

The opening ceremony featured addresses by His Royal Highness Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra, Crown Prince of the Malaysian State of Perlis; Adiz Boboyev, Governor of the Samarkand Region; Prof. Dr. Shovosil Ziyodov, Director of the Imam Bukhari International Scientific Research Center; and Prof. Mushaddad Hasbullah, Vice-Chancellor’s Deputy at USIM.
In their remarks, the distinguished speakers emphasized the conference’s academic and educational significance, underscoring the importance of studying the Prophetic legacy as a source of guidance for societal development, ethical leadership, and the cultivation of knowledge and moral excellence among younger generations.
Particular attention was devoted to exploring solutions to contemporary global challenges through scholarly approaches rooted in Islamic teachings and the Prophetic tradition.
The speakers also highlighted Samarkand’s historic role as one of the great centers of Islamic learning and intellectual exchange. They noted that the comprehensive reforms currently being implemented in Uzbekistan’s religious, educational, and scholarly sectors are creating new opportunities to expand international cooperation and strengthen the country’s engagement with the global academic community.

As part of the conference, memoranda of understanding were signed between the Imam Bukhari International Scientific Research Center and two Malaysian universities — Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) and Universiti Islam Antarabangsa Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin (UniSIRAJ).
The agreements are aimed at establishing joint research initiatives, facilitating academic exchanges, and expanding institutional cooperation in the study of Islamic sciences and the Prophetic intellectual heritage.

During his visit, His Royal Highness the Crown Prince of Perlis also signed the Center’s Book of Honored Guests, leaving a commemorative message to mark the occasion.
The conference featured presentations by prominent international and Uzbek scholars examining hadith-based approaches to addressing global instability, crisis management, and the challenges of contemporary leadership.

During the afternoon’s parallel academic sessions, researchers presented and discussed more than 40 scholarly papers covering a broad range of topics, including Prophetic ethics, family and social governance, responsible leadership, and Islamic perspectives on contemporary societal challenges.
The presentations generated lively academic discussions and provided a valuable platform for exchanging research findings, scholarly perspectives, and practical approaches to applying the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) in the modern world.

The SWAN X 2026 International Conference will continue its proceedings on October 7, with further scholarly sessions and discussions aimed at advancing research on the Prophetic legacy and strengthening international academic partnerships.
