Two research fellows from the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) have arrived at the Imam Bukhari International Scientific Research Center to undertake academic research under the Imam Bukhari International Scholarship Program.
The visiting Malaysian researchers, Mohd Shahir bin Hashim, a research officer at JAKIM’s Research Division, and Muhammad Uzair bin Izham, an Islamic Affairs Officer at the department, were received by the Center’s Director. During the meeting, they provided detailed insights into their respective research projects, academic interests, and planned activities throughout their stay.

The research projects undertaken by the Malaysian scholars address issues of considerable relevance to contemporary Islamic scholarship, religious education, and the development of educational methodologies.
In particular, Mohd Shahir bin Hashim is conducting research entitled “Imam al-Bukhari’s Theological Methodology: Foundations for Shaping and Regulating Doctrinal Perspectives in Malaysia.”
His study seeks to explore how the intellectual and theological legacy of Imam al-Bukhari can serve as a methodological foundation for strengthening sound Islamic beliefs and guiding theological understanding within Malaysian society.

Meanwhile, Muhammad Uzair bin Izham is pursuing a research project entitled “The Role of the Methodology of Sahih al-Bukhari in Nurturing a Competent and Well-Rounded Qur’anic Generation: A Conceptual Analysis Based on the Mission of JAKIM’s Darul Quran.”
The study examines the relevance of the principles and educational approaches reflected in Sahih al-Bukhari to the development of a knowledgeable, morally grounded, and highly qualified generation of Qur’anic scholars, with particular reference to the educational mission of Darul Quran, an institution operating under JAKIM.

During the meeting, the visiting researchers were briefed on the facilities and opportunities available to international research fellows at the Center. Particular attention was given to the Center’s research infrastructure, its library collections, including rare manuscripts, and the academic resources available to support their scholarly work.
In accordance with the fellowship program, the Malaysian researchers plan to conduct extensive studies using the Center’s scholarly resources, familiarize themselves with the activities of leading research institutions in Uzbekistan, and engage in close academic dialogue with local scholars and specialists in their respective fields.
Their research stay is expected to contribute to the advancement of Islamic scholarship, facilitate the exchange of academic expertise, and further strengthen research cooperation between Uzbekistan and Malaysia.
