A Great Legacy – A Source of Universal Thought and Educational Cooperation

An international conference titled “Islamic Cultural Heritage in Uzbekistan and Its Role in World Scholarship” is currently being held at Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies, jointly organized by the Qatar Committee for the Alliance of Civilizations and Qatar University.

The forum was organized to promote the development of scientific and cultural ties between Uzbekistan and Qatar, facilitate in-depth research into the Islamic cultural heritage and scholarly legacy of the thinkers who emerged from the territory of present-day Uzbekistan, and further promote this heritage internationally. The event brings together prominent scholars from abroad, Uzbek researchers and academics, university professors, and international experts.

At the conference, Shovosil Ziyodov, Director of the Imam Bukhari International Scientific Research Center, delivered a presentation highlighting the large-scale reforms being implemented in New Uzbekistan to restore, preserve, and promote the country’s rich spiritual, scholarly, and cultural heritage.

In particular, he provided detailed information about the activities of the Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan, which has recently been commissioned and is emerging as a major educational and cultural hub. He also spoke extensively about the Imam Bukhari Complex, which has undergone a comprehensive reconstruction, as well as the modern infrastructure developed around the site.

The Director invited conference participants to visit these magnificent complexes and learn more about the new opportunities they offer for academic research and scholarly cooperation. He also called for active collaboration in implementing mutually beneficial joint projects.
