“Fifth Mawarannahr Summer Seminar” Concludes in Türkiye

The Fifth Mawarannahr Summer Seminar has successfully concluded following a month-long programme held in the Turkish cities of Ankara and Istanbul.

This year’s programme brought together 30 researchers from Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, Kosovo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, and the Republic of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation. Jonibek Jumayev, a researcher at the Imam Bukhari International Scientific Research Center, also actively participated in the programme.

The seminar traditionally began at the Institute of Islamic Thought in Ankara, Türkiye. This year’s programme attracted particular attention due to the significant expansion of its geographical scope compared with previous editions. Initially launched as a project involving only researchers from Uzbekistan, the initiative has now developed into a prominent international academic platform bringing together participants from ten countries.

Throughout the month-long seminar, participants attended lectures and training sessions covering Islamic thought, religious and educational sciences, hadith studies, the scholarly legacy of the Mawarannahr intellectual tradition, and contemporary research methodologies. The sessions were delivered by distinguished scholars from Türkiye and other countries.

The final stage of the seminar was held in Istanbul at the International University of Islamic Knowledge and Technology in Türkiye. At the conclusion of the programme, certificates were presented to the participating researchers.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Professor Mehmet Görmez emphasized that the knowledge and academic experience gained during the seminar would contribute to further strengthening scientific and cultural ties between the countries of Central Asia and the Balkans, promoting deeper research into the scholarly heritage of Mawarannahr, and enhancing its international dissemination.

The international academic programme is regarded as an important initiative aimed at strengthening the research capacity of representatives of the Imam Bukhari International Scientific Research Center, expanding cooperation with international research institutions, and promoting Uzbekistan’s rich scholarly and spiritual heritage on the global stage.
