THE DELEGATION FROM SAMARKAND REGION HAS COMMENCED ITS VISIT TO MALAYSIA AND INDONESIA

In order to implement the instructions given during the visit of the Head of State to Samarkand Region, as well as to ensure the execution of the Cabinet of Ministers’ resolution dated January 9, 2026, concerning the “Umrah Plus” pilgrimage tourism program, a working visit of the Samarkand Region delegation to Malaysia and Indonesia was organized.

The delegation, led by the Governor of Samarkand Region, Adiz Boboyev, included Shovosil Ziyodov, Director of the Imam Bukhari International Scientific-Research Center, Doctor of Historical Sciences and Professor, as well as representatives from relevant organizations and the tourism sector.

The first destination of the visit was Putrajaya, Malaysia. Members of the delegation visited one of the city’s most magnificent architectural landmarks — the Putra Mosque, which accommodates 15,000 worshippers. They familiarized themselves with the mosque’s architectural style and the facilities provided for visitors. The unique manuscripts, ancient copies of the Qur’an, and historical artifacts in the mosque’s library and museum left a profound impression on the guests.

During the visit, the delegation also toured one of the world’s largest book publishing centers — the Nasirul Qur’an Complex. Ranking second in the world after the complex in Madinah, this center provided the delegation an opportunity to study the process of publishing religious literature as well as exceptional examples of calligraphy.

In the course of the discussions, both sides expressed their interest in developing practical cooperation in the fields of science and education, emphasizing that such collaboration would further strengthen the spiritual and cultural ties between their peoples in the future.

It should be noted that the primary objectives of the visit are to apply international experience in managing the newly reconstructed Imam Bukhari Complex, to establish cooperation with leading tourism companies in Malaysia and Indonesia within the framework of the “Umrah Plus” program, and to actively promote the potential of pilgrimage tourism in our country.
