The role of libraries in scientific research and new opportunities

On October 11, the next online seminar was held at the Imam Bukhari International Scientific Research Center in cooperation with the Research Centre for Islamic History, Art and Culture (IRCICA) within the framework of the scientific project “Central Asia – the center of Islamic culture and art”. Along with the scientific staff of the Center and representatives of IRCICA, teachers and students of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the International Islamic Academy, the School of Hadith, researchers from Turkey and Germany took part in it.

At the seminar, Dr. Didar Bayir, Head of the IRCICA Library and Archive, gave a lecture on the topic “Research Data Management and Librarians’ Support “.

The scientist emphasized the importance of proper data processing and management in modern research and emphasized the role of libraries and information and resource centers in this regard. According to her, it is precisely information and resource centers that serve as an essential tool for storing, processing, and presenting research data to the public. In this process, it is important to follow the principles of FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable). For this, each research data must be properly cataloged and stored.

In addition to collecting, analyzing, and making information available to the general public, libraries also assist researchers in developing information management plans. Today, the opportunities for information exchange and cooperation between libraries and research institutions around the world are expanding. Centers like IRCICA are playing an important role in bringing together international researchers and opening up new frontiers in science.

As noted at the seminar, today’s libraries are becoming a unique infrastructure that serves to store scientific information in correct and modern ways, to facilitate their use, and to increase the effectiveness of research. In particular, a number of libraries in Turkey and European countries present manuscript works and scientific literature to the general public through modern digitization technologies. The expansion of digital archives of libraries plays an important role in this, of course.

Speaking about the modern principles of proper management and storage of scientific information, Madame Didar emphasized that this issue is of great importance not only for academic circles, but also for the general public.

The seminar continued with lively questions and answers.
