A researcher of the Imam Bukhari International Scientific Research Center, a master’s student at the Bulgarian Islamic Academy in the Republic of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation, Bayozhon Mahmudov, took part in the conference “Interethnic harmony and religious tolerance is a factor of unity” held at this academy.
He gave an online lecture on the topic “Origins and stages of development of religious tolerance in Uzbekistan”, organized for undergraduates and graduate students of theological faculties of the academy where he studies, as well as the Russian Islamic Institute and Kazan Federal University.
B. Makhmudov’s lecture was devoted to the origins, essence and gradual processes of the traditions of religious tolerance that have been formed over centuries in Central Asia.
The contributions of Transoxiana scholars in the region have provided many scientific justifications and practical examples for the wider spread of Islam, as well as respect shown to the faith of representatives of other religions.
The speaker also informed the participants about practical measures taken in Uzbekistan to ensure religious tolerance, as well as reforms being implemented in our country in the religious and educational sphere.
