A delegation consisting of representatives from the leadership of the Center for Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan and the Imam Bukhari International Scientific Research Center has begun a business trip to the Sultanate of Oman. The trip, organized within the framework of the practical measures plan and aimed at developing cooperation between the two countries for 2022-2023, involves exchanging experiences and strengthening ties in the preservation, cataloging, restoration, and publication of written monuments.
On August 27, representatives from Uzbekistan in the partnership with Farux Vaxabov who is responsible officer of Oman Embassy visited the Department of National Records & Archives Authority of Sultanate Oman. Hamad bin Muhammad Diyani, the head of the international relations department, provided information about the department’s activities. The department, created by Sultan Qaboos bin Said in 2007 under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Sultanate of Oman, implements a comprehensive program of scientific training in specialized faculties opened in four universities in the country, where specialists at the bachelor’s level are trained and their qualifications are improved while preserving state management and interdepartmental documents as part of the national heritage. About 300 qualified employees work in the institution on classification, storage, restoration, protection, digitization, and other areas of documents. In Oman, documents related to family relations, such as wills and inheritance, are officially recognized after being registered in this office.
The institution has the authority to bring into the country documents related to the history and culture of the Sultanate stored in the archival funds of other countries and conduct independent research on them. In this regard, the department organizes various conferences at the local and international levels and summarizes the results of scientific research. Today, there are more than 200,000 documents and over 75,000 manuscripts related to Islam stored here, both in originals and electronic copies.
As part of the meeting, a presentation was made about the Center for Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan and the Imam Bukhari International Scientific Research Center with detailed information about the organization, goals, and objectives of these two centers, ongoing work, and overall reforms being implemented in the religious and educational sphere in Uzbekistan.
During the dialogue, representatives from Uzbekistan invited representatives from the department to visit Uzbekistan.
