On January 31, a scientific-practical conference was held on the topic “Current issues related to the formation of the Museum of the History of Islamic Civilization” in Tashkent. The conference organized by the Center of Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan was attended by the leading scientists and scientific experts.
Director of Imam Bukhari International Scientific Research Center, doctor of history Shovosil Ziyadov also partisipated in the conference and made a speech on the topic “The importance of highlighting examples of Middle Asian sphragistics in museum expositions.” The speaker made a speech about the role of sfragistic monuments in expanding the scope of information on the activities of state institutions and libraries.
Sphragistics is the study of seals as a historical source. Seals are one of the first symbols of statehood. Different forms of seals printed on official papers testify that the document came from that particular office or person. For this reason, seals are a valuable resource in the comprehensive study of a historical event of a certain period. In the lecture, the research conducted on Muslim sphragistics, the orderly classification of seals by types, and the unexplored aspects of the field were presented. The importance of seals in the study of manuscripts and the importance of sealing as a craft and art was also revealed.
At the end of his speech, the speaker noted that organizing an exhibition of unique seals in the museum being built in the center of Islamic civilization in Uzbekistan will serve to further increase the interest of the researchers of our country and the general public, foreign scientists and tourists.
At the conference, the organizers announced that it is planned to publish the materials of the conference in electronic and printed form.
