On 17 June, the 6th International Seminar dedicated to the scholarly legacy of the thinkers of Islamic civilization commenced at the Imam Bukhari International Scientific Research Center through the collaboration of leading academic and educational institutions of Uzbekistan and Malaysia. Held annually as a traditional scholarly gathering, this year\u2019s seminar was organized under the theme \u201cKnowledge, Wisdom, and Development: The Role of Islamic Civilization in the History and Future of Humanity.\u201d<\/em> The event focused on the heritage of Islamic civilization, the role of religious and educational values in the development of contemporary society, as well as issues related to science, scholarship, and spirituality. The seminar has brought together scholars, researchers, and representatives of higher education institutions from Uzbekistan, Malaysia, Indonesia, T\u00fcrkiye, the United Kingdom, Nigeria, and North Macedonia.<\/span><\/p>\n

At the opening ceremony, Professor Shovosil Ziyodov, Director of the Imam Bukhari International Scientific Research Center; Baroat Amonov, Rector of the School of Hadith Studies; Professor Sufian Jusoh, Vice-Chancellor of the National University of Malaysia; and Professor Fariza Sham, Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Academic and International Affairs, emphasized that the history of Islamic civilization constitutes an integral part of human civilization. They further noted that the scholarly traditions established in Transoxiana and the Malay region continue to retain their relevance and significance in the contemporary world.<\/span><\/p>\n

As noted during the event, in the context of the rapid advancement of modern science and technology, the in-depth study of historical heritage and the broader promotion of its underlying principles of humanism, enlightenment, and tolerance constitute important factors for ensuring the sustainable development of society. From this perspective, particular emphasis was placed on the role of the conference in strengthening scholarly dialogue and fostering academic cooperation among researchers from different countries.<\/span><\/p>\n

Within the framework of the event, the validity period of the Memorandum of Cooperation between the Imam Bukhari International Scientific Research Center and the National University of Malaysia was extended. The parties emphasized that this extension would elevate cooperation between the academic institutions of the two countries to a new stage and contribute to expanding the scope of joint research initiatives and academic exchange programs.<\/span><\/p>\n

During the first day of the scientific seminar, dozens of presentations were delivered, addressing a range of topics including the contribution of the scholarly schools of Transoxiana to the development of Islamic civilization, the Maturidi theological tradition, Hadith studies, the institution of waqf, Islamic economics, spiritual education, and issues related to social stability.<\/span><\/p>\n

The themes addressed within the framework of the conference demonstrate the necessity of approaching the heritage of Islamic civilization not merely as a historical phenomenon, but as an important intellectual resource for societal development, spiritual stability, and scientific progress. In particular, under contemporary conditions marked by the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence and digitalization, alongside the expanding reach of globalization, the issue of ensuring harmony and rational integration between the classical Islamic sciences and modern knowledge has become a focal point of attention within the international academic community. In this regard, the conference held in Samarkand serves as an important platform for scholarly dialogue and the exchange of experience among researchers and academics from different countries.<\/span><\/p>\n
