A delegation of professors and students from Germany\u2019s prestigious Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen\u2013N\u00fcrnberg (FAU Erlangen\u2013N\u00fcrnberg)<\/strong> visited the Imam Bukhari International Scientific Research Center<\/strong> on October 7<\/strong>.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

During the visit, discussions focused on strengthening scientific cooperation between the two institutions, studying the heritage of Islamic civilization and sciences, and exchanging expertise and achievements in manuscript studies. In this context, an academic roundtable was organized on methods for researching, preserving, and digitizing manuscripts. At the roundtable, scholars from the Center and members of the delegation shared insights on systematic study of historical sources, the application of modern information technologies, and the dissemination of research findings at the international level. Additionally, opportunities for future joint research projects, faculty and student exchanges, and collaboration on scientific initiatives were explored.<\/span><\/p>\n

Its Faculty of Humanities, Social Sciences, and Theology<\/strong>, <\/strong>particularly the Department of Islamic-Religious Studies<\/strong>, closely aligns with the focus areas of the Imam Bukhari International Scientific Research Center, conducting extensive research in religious studies, manuscript work, source criticism, and the study of scholarly heritage<\/strong>.<\/strong> Additionally, the university\u2019s Book Science and Digital Humanities departments<\/strong> possess advanced expertise in digitizing, analyzing, and electronically archiving manuscript sources<\/strong>,<\/strong> providing valuable methodological experience relevant to the Center\u2019s activities.<\/span><\/p>\n

Additionally, specialists from the Center conducted a practical workshop for the guests focused on working with manuscript sources<\/strong>.<\/strong> The session provided hands-on guidance on identifying ancient manuscripts, proper preservation conditions, and methods for dating texts based on paper, ink, and script types<\/strong>.<\/strong> The visitors were given the opportunity to examine rare works from the Center\u2019s manuscript collection<\/strong>, <\/strong>expressing strong interest in the ongoing scholarly research in this field.<\/span><\/p>\n
