The fourth and final day of the international seminar-training titled \u201cElements of Codicology of Central Asian Manuscripts\u201d, jointly organized by the Imam Bukhari International Scientific Research Center and the Samarkand State Museum-Reserve, took place on May 2 and continued with great enthusiasm.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

On the concluding day of the program, the topic of colophons, considered an essential part of manuscripts, was examined in greater depth. Participants discussed indicators found in colophons that reveal the social, political and religious context of the time, encryption techniques, symbolic phrases and hidden references to the manuscript\u2019s author or scribe. It was emphasized that such data allows researchers to draw conclusions about the scholarly atmosphere, manuscript traditions and even social dynamics of a given historical period.<\/span><\/p>\n

Additionally, the history and technology of Kokand paper were explored. Researchers shared insights on the unique characteristics of paper production during the Kokand Khanate, including the use of local raw materials such as silk, mulberry leaves and various aromatic plants. Features such as durability, ink resistance and clarity of color were discussed in detail. The significance of Kokand paper in source studies, the preservation of manuscripts written on it and its distinctions from other regional papers were also analyzed.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

One of the most captivating topics of the day centered on the art of bookmaking during the Shaybanid period. Participants reviewed the flourishing of manuscript production and ornamentation during this era, the rise of calligraphy schools, use of illumination and miniatures, color selection traditions and the refinement of calligraphic styles. Attention was drawn to the fact that books were valued not only as sources of knowledge but also as objects of aesthetic appreciation.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The seminar atmosphere was further enriched by interactive question and answers sessions, open discussions, and candid feedback throughout the lectures. Each participant gained valuable practical insights, innovative perspectives and analytical tools to apply in their professional activities.<\/span><\/p>\n

It is worth emphasizing that each day of the seminar revealed new and unique aspects of the region’s manuscript heritage, inspiring participants with both deeper knowledge and a sense of responsibility.<\/span><\/p>\n

With this, the international seminar-training \u201cElements of Codicology of Central Asian Manuscripts\u201d has officially concluded.<\/span><\/p>\n
