The seminar-training titled \u201cElements of Codicology of Central Asian Manuscripts\u201d, held in cooperation with the Samarkand State Museum-Reserve under the Cultural Heritage Agency, continued today, April 30, at the Imam Bukhari International Scientific Research Center.<\/span><\/p>\n

The event gathered scholars and researchers from educational, scientific, and cultural institutions across the country, as well as scientific staff of the Center and international experts from France, Turkey and Kyrgyzstan. During the session, trainer Marie Eftimiou delivered a presentation on the preparation of papers used in ancient manuscripts, the traces left by this process, the composition of the paper, methods of stitching and binding and how to determine the historical period to which a manuscript belongs. She also focused on the specific requirements characteristic of Central Asian manuscripts, the historical emergence of these standards and their relevance to contemporary restoration practices.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

In the second half of the day, the seminar continued at the Samarkand State Museum-Reserve. The main session featured the museum\u2019s restoration specialists, who shared their practical experience in manuscript restoration. Participants were given the opportunity to closely familiarize themselves with the museum\u2019s activities, exhibits and the manuscripts preserved there.<\/span><\/p>\n

At the conclusion of the event, participants were awarded official certificates from the organizers.<\/span><\/p>\n
