An analytical article entitled “New Uzbekistan’s Strategy for Combating Ignorance through Enlightenment” by Alouddin Ne’matov, Research Fellow at the Imam Bukhari International Scientific Research Center, has been published in As-Siyasi, a prominent Egyptian online publication.
The article points out that, alongside the rapid scientific and technological advancements witnessed during the first quarter of the twenty-first century, the world has also experienced the growing spread of ideological threats, moral crises, and extremist tendencies. Against this backdrop, the author provides a comprehensive analysis of the principle “Enlightenment against Ignorance,” which has been elevated to the level of state policy in New Uzbekistan, highlighting both its conceptual foundations and practical significance.
The article emphasizes that the fight against radicalism and extremist ideologies cannot rely solely on administrative measures or the use of force. Rather, the most effective and sustainable solution lies in promoting education and enlightenment, particularly among young people, while fostering a proper understanding of Islam’s authentic values of humanity, moderation, and tolerance.
Particular attention is devoted to Uzbekistan’s large-scale reforms aimed at preserving, studying, and promoting the rich scholarly and spiritual heritage of its great scholars, especially Imam al-Bukhari, Imam al-Tirmidhi, and other eminent Muslim thinkers. The author also argues that the model adopted in Uzbekistan—where research centers and educational institutions employ knowledge and enlightenment as the principal means of combating ignorance—offers a valuable example for the international community, particularly the Muslim world.
It can be said that the publication of this article in As-Siyasi once again demonstrates the growing international recognition of Uzbekistan’s consistent efforts to promote the principles of peace, tolerance, and enlightened Islam. It also highlights that the country’s policy of combating ignorance through enlightenment is increasingly acknowledged as a timely and effective response to contemporary ideological challenges.
