Iraqi Scholar Visits the Imam Bukhari International Scientific Research Center

As part of the 1st International Islamic Civilization Forum, “Islamic Civilization: The Path of Peace, Tolerance and Enlightenment”, Dr. Fahmi Ahmad Abdulrahman Ghazzaz of Imam A’zam Nu’man ibn Thabit University (Iraq) visited the Imam Bukhari International Scientific Research Center during his stay in Uzbekistan.

The Center’s Director, Prof. Shovosil Ziyodov, welcomed the distinguished guest and introduced him to the activities of the Imam al-Bukhari Museum, as well as the research facilities and academic resources available to scholars. He also presented an overview of Imam al-Bukhari’s scholarly journeys and the manuscript copies of his works preserved in Uzbekistan’s collections. In particular, the museum’s exhibition depicting Imam al-Bukhari’s famous scholarly examination in Baghdad left a lasting impression on the Iraqi scholar.

During a tour of the Center’s library, Dr. Ghazzaz donated nearly 20 of his own books to the library’s collection. Covering a wide range of subjects – including Islamic jurisprudence (fiqh), Islamic creed (‘aqidah), and Hadith studies – the publications also address the ideological shortcomings of extremist narratives, demonstrating their lack of scholarly foundation and exposing the destructive motives behind them.

The two sides exchanged views on future academic cooperation, including joint research on the life and scholarly legacy of Imam al-Bukhari, the publication of research findings in both Uzbek and Arabic, the development and implementation of collaborative research projects, and the organization of international seminars and academic events.

It is worth noting that Dr. Fahmi Ahmad regularly teaches Hadith sciences and Sahih al-Bukhari through online Khatm al-Kutub sessions via Zoom, reaching thousands of students across Iraq.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Iraqi scholar highly praised the large-scale reforms being implemented in New Uzbekistan in the fields of religious education and enlightenment. As a token of appreciation, the Center presented Dr. Ghazzaz with the Uzbek translation of Imam al-Bukhari’s renowned work Khalq Af’al al-‘Ibad.
