3 researchers of the Manuscripts and Museum Department of the Imam Bukhari International Scientific Research Center have left for the Republic of Turkey.
The visit is part of the implementation of the “Roadmap” for the implementation of agreements reached with Turkish universities and research centers.
During the main part of the visit, researchers Y.Isaev, I.Kushshakov, and B.Ibotov will improve their professional skills at the Book Hospital and Archives Department of the General Directorate of Manuscripts of Turkey (Türkiye Yazma Eserler Kurumu Başkanlığı Kitap Şifahanesi ve Arşiv Dairesi Başkanlığı).
Yesterday, the researchers met with Ms. Neil Baydar, Head of the Book Hospital and Archives Department of the General Directorate of Manuscripts in Istanbul.
After a short conversation, the staff got acquainted with the activities of the institution.
They got acquainted with the procedure for receiving books brought to the hospital for repairs, the use of a quarantine refrigerator designed to clean them from worms and insects (pests).
Before repairing the books, they mastered the process of determining their condition (cover, sheet, text size, thickness of the cover and sheets, and the degree of damage to the book) and replenishing the manuscript repair account on that basis.
During the visit, the center’s researchers met with the head of the Center for the Study of Islamic History, Art and Culture (IRCICA) under the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor Ashirbek Muminov to discuss future joint projects.
The scientific visit continues.
