“CENTER EXPERIENCE” — AT THE ISTANBUL SYMPOSIUM

At the initiative of the Turkish Directorate General of Manuscripts, the First International Manuscripts Symposium was held in Istanbul. The conference was devoted to issues of manuscript preservation, restoration, integration into scholarly circulation, digitization, and their effective use. The event brought together nearly one hundred leading manuscript scholars, historians, and experts in the field from more than twenty countries. Among the participants was Yoldoshxon Isayev, a research fellow of the Imam Bukhari International Scientific Research Center.

At the symposium, the representative of the Center provided a comprehensive overview of the manuscript collection of the Imam Bukhari International Scientific Research Center, the modern conditions established there for the preservation of rare written sources, the ongoing research and translation activities, and the mechanisms for making this rich heritage accessible to the wider public.

In addition, the procedures by which foreign researchers may access the Center’s manuscript collections were outlined, along with discussions on establishing and developing international academic cooperation, joint projects, and scholarly exchange initiatives.

This information was received with great interest by the participants and opened up new opportunities for practical dialogue and collaboration.

Within the framework of the symposium, participants visited Turkey’s Rumi, Suleymaniya, and Beyazid libraries, where they became closely acquainted with manuscript preservation and restoration practices.
