A delegation from Indonesia, including scholars from Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University and the Institute of Qur’anic Sciences in Jakarta, as well as representatives from the tourism and banking sectors and artists, recently visited Uzbekistan, particularly the Imam Bukhari International Scientific Research Center.
According to the center’s press service, details of this visit were widely covered by several Indonesian media outlets.
The official Indonesian news agency, ANTARA News, highlighted the delegation’s efforts to strengthen scientific cooperation with the center. The report cited the center’s director, Shovosil Ziyodov, who noted that connections between the Imam Bukhari Center and Indonesian research institutions had been limited. However, both sides have a strong desire and ample opportunities to expand collaboration. He emphasized that this visit could lay the foundation for close cooperation in hadith studies, research on Imam Bukhari’s works, and other academic projects.
During discussions with scholars, entrepreneurs, banking professionals, and artists, it was agreed to organize an international conference titled “Imam Bukhari’s Legacy – Through the Eyes of the Muslim World”, scheduled for June in Jakarta and October in Samarkand. Additionally, joint research projects and other practical initiatives were proposed.
The Liputan6.com news portal emphasized that the collaboration is focused on studying Imam Bukhari’s works and promoting his legacy to a wider audience. The article highlighted the significance of these efforts in expanding and strengthening academic and cultural ties.
The NU Online website, affiliated with the Nahdlatul Ulama organization, provided extensive coverage of the potential cooperation within the International Imam Bukhari Scholarship Program. It was noted that while researchers from Malaysia, Turkey, and other countries have participated in this program, collaboration with Indonesia had not yet been established. However, as a result of the visit, such cooperation is now set to begin.
The Aspirasinusantara.id news portal reported that a group of activists had launched initiatives to study and promote Imam Bukhari’s legacy abroad, particularly in Uzbekistan. These initiatives, aimed at raising awareness of his scholarly contributions within the Muslim world, are expected to be closely linked with the Imam Bukhari International Scientific Research Center.
The same report was also published on AswajaTV’s website.
