A press conference was held at the National Press Center of Uzbekistan on the topic “Results of the activities of the Imam Bukhari International Scientific Research Center for the first 9 months of this year: results and indicators.”
The conference, organized in collaboration with the Agency for Information and Mass Communications and the National Press Center, was attended by the leadership of the Imam Bukhari International Scientific Research Center and employees of the republic’s media.
The Director of the Center, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor Shovosil Ziyodov, provided information on the work carried out at the Center in the field of scientific research and the development of international relations during the 9 months of 2024.
As noted, 14 unique manuscripts by scholars such as Imam Bukhari, Abul Barakat Nasafi, Abu Hafs Umar Nasafi, and Ibrahim Saffar Bukhari were translated, 6 books and monographs by researchers and academics were published, and 10 books were prepared for publication.
10 posters and 10 popular pamphlets were prepared in the “10 Truths” column about the lives and work of great scholars and thinkers.
The Center’s scientific staff published 150 scientific papers. The Center’s scientific staff also participated in international and local conferences with 45 scientific reports.
In the direction of developing international relations during the period ending in 2024:
The center has signed a total of 3 Memorandums of Understanding on cooperation with the US Institute of Peace, the Islamic Research Center (ISAM) under the Diyanat Foundation of Turkey, and the General Directorate of Manuscripts of Turkey.
Seven foreign laureates of the “Imam Bukhari International Scholarship” have done their research internship at the center.
More than 30 international conferences, meetings, seminars, round tables, and book presentations abroad were held. 25 foreign visits to the center and 14 scientific trips abroad were organized for researchers, and cooperative relations were established with similar centers and prestigious universities.
One of the center’s researchers has undergone a 3-month research internship at the Institute for Asian-African Studies at the University of Hamburg, and 3 employees have participated in a one-month training course at the Book Hospital and Archives Department of the General Directorate of Manuscripts of Turkey and the Sulaymaniyah Manuscript Library.
The General Advisor to the Director of the Center, Doctor of Philosophy, Professor Bakhtiyor Turayev presented an analysis of the work carried out in the field of working with manuscripts and in the spiritual and educational direction during the reporting period.
According to it, 10 manuscripts were purchased from the population, 5 manuscripts and 8 lithographed books were received as gifts. A register of 3,300 manuscripts by Imam Bukhari, stored in libraries around the world, was compiled in the Latin alphabet. Electronic copies of 794 manuscript copies of Imam Bukhari’s “Al-Jami’ al-Sahih” stored in manuscript funds of foreign countries were compiled.
Annotations of 100 manuscript copies of “Sahih al-Bukhari” were prepared. The electronic database of the center was enriched with electronic copies of more than 867 manuscripts and lithographs. 259 manuscripts stored in the center’s fund were conserved.
In the spiritual and educational direction, the center’s scientific staff held a total of 184 events on topics under the “Against Ignorance – Enlightenment” column, as well as presentations of the Center’s publications, and 160 (344 in total) spiritual and educational events on the importance of the scientific heritage of our great scientists in the education of young people.
Also, in order to convey to our people the scientific heritage of our great scholars, education, and high humanitarian ideals, lectures were given at 161 educational seminars held in local khokimiyats across the Republic in collaboration with related organizations, and presentations of newly published books and pamphlets were held. In addition, 126 video lessons were prepared in the “Hadith Enlightenment” column and on current topics.
On the video hosting “YouTube”, 761 materials on various religious lectures by representatives of religious movements banned in Uzbekistan were reviewed, and scientific and analytical information was prepared for each of them.
Shukurullo Umarov, head of the center’s department, Doctor of Philosophy in Historical Sciences, described promising plans and projects.
The press conference was broadcast live on UzReport TV and its YouTube and Facebook pages, allowing internet users to participate in the event online and submit questions, requests, applications, or complaints.
During the conference, online observers, social media users, and representatives of the press received answers to their questions.
