INCREASED COMMUNICATION IS NECESSARY TO DEVELOP NEW EFFECTIVE PROJECTS

The Imam Bukhari International Scientific Research Center and the US Institute of Peace organized an online seminar on the topic “ The experience of the US Institute of Peace in spreading the principles of inter-ethnic harmony and religious tolerance in Central Asiа”. It was attended by researchers from the Center, researchers and scientists from higher educational institutions in of United States and our country.
Barmak Pazhwak, a senior program officer working on Afghanistan and Central Asia for the United States Institute of Peace made a speech on this topic.
The speaker touched upon the work carried out within the framework of the С5+1 program, practical assistance provided by the Institute of Peace to citizens of Central Asian countries in Iraq and Syria. It also positively assessed Uzbekistan’s practical efforts to repatriate citizens and welcomed this work as one of the Institute’s successful programs with Uzbekistan.
Barmak Pazhvak also expressed his opinion about the ideas of radicalism that have been spreading over the Internet in recent years, and about the fight against them.
In particular, on the basis of a separate program in this direction, seminars on maintaining pages in social networks were organized with the participation of representatives of local authorities. In cooperation with executive authorities and representatives of the religious sphere, were given ideas about methods of countering extremism and terrorism in order to counteract the spread of radical ideas. In this regard, the scientist stressed the need to expand the dialogue on topics between representatives of both spheres, as well as the development of new effective projects in this direction.
It was emphasized at the seminar that training in cooperation with the Institute of Peace on the Promotion of the Islamic Religion and related knowledge of the center will have a positive impact not only at the local level, but also internationally.
