The next laureate of the international scholarship program named after Imam Bukhari – Irina Katkova, associate professor of the Department of History of the Far East of the Faculty of Oriental Studies of St. Petersburg State University in the Russian Federation, came to the Imam Bukhari International Scientific Research Center scientific practice and research.
Director Sh. Ziyadov accepted the scholarship holder and wished her success in her research at the Center. Mrs. Irina expressed gratitude for the warm reception and expressed confidence that the scientific trip will bring high results in her research. At the end of the dialogue, the Russian scientist donated the literature published by her authorship to the library of the Center.
Irina Katkova has been working in this department for almost 20 years. Before that, she worked as a senior researcher at the Institute of Oriental Manuscripts of the Russian Academy of Sciences for several years. As a specialist in Islamic codicology, she published several treatises on Sufi and Malay manuscripts. During her internship at the center, she aimed to collect information for her monograph on the manuscripts tariqa of the Naqshbandia.
She also plans to prepare lectures on the architectural solutions of historical monuments in Samarkand and Bukhara for the students of the course Art of Islamic Architecture, which she organized at the faculty.
The researcher became familiar with the activities of the Museum and the library. Her scientific internship at the Center lasts one month.
