Imam Bukhari International Scientific Research Center has hold an online seminar in cooperation with Ahli Sunna Wal Jamaa Research Center at the Islamic University of Brunei Darussalam, on the topic “The role of the Naqshbandi tariqa in promoting the essence of Islam in Southeast Asia.”
At the conference, which was organized with the participation of researchers from Imam Bukhari International Scientific Research Center and scientific and educational institutions in Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia, as well as scientists from leading higher education and scientific organizations of our country, associate professor of the Ahli Sunna Wal Jamaa Research Center at the Islamic University of Brunei Darussalam Dr. Muhammad Yusuf Khalid’s lecture on the topic was heard.
In adition, speaker recognized that importance of the hadith and Qur’anic science, tafsir, jurisprudence, faith, philosophy, medicine, engineering, astronomy, and the role of the Naqshbandi tariqa order in the promotion of Islamic identity in the Southeast Asian region.
Islam entered Southeast Asia peacefully around the 15 th century through merchants who followed Sufis, as a result of their good behavior and da’wah. Currently, 90% of the people of Indonesia, which has a population of about 300 million, believe in Islam.
The biography of Sheikh Bahauddin Naqshband, the history of the spread of the Naqshbandi order in Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore were detailed in the lecture. Information was given about the persons who brought the Naqshbandi tariqa to the regions of these countries.
As mentioned, the Naqshbandi tariqa entered this part of the Asia not so long ago. It has become an important factor promouting and accelerating global Islamic progres and, founded fundamental positive changes in ethics.
The speaker specifically noted that proper propagation of Tariqa of Naqishbandiya and Sufi in the countries of the region is one of the urgent issues at the moment.
The seminar was full of intense questions and answers.
