The guest of the next online seminar organized by the Center was Professor Akram Habibullaev, bibliographer of the Indiana University of the USA. The theme of the seminar was “Sources of Islamic Studies and Bibliographic Guides”.
At the seminar, the scientist spoke about English-language electronic manuals, encyclopedias, dictionaries and electronic databases, bibliographic indicators, digital manuscripts, rare books and archival documents related to Islamic studies, as well as the experience of US universities and research centers in their filed of application. He also shared his experience in working with databases such as WorldCat and Brill – about their knowledge sharing opportunities.
Speaking about the advantages of electronic documents, Akram Khabibullaev marked that the translation of books on various handwritten and lithographic media into electronic format is a requirement of the time. Indeed, in the current age of information technology, such a resource plays an important role in improving the effectiveness of research.
